The Best Birthday I had in AGES!

February 6th, 2007 by martinaquino

Yay! I had lots of fun on my birthday!  It was also Yummy’s birthday and I suggested to Nakhai something that I had wanted to do for a very long time…  EAT AT DAD’S EAT ALL YOU CAN BUFFET!!!

________________________________________________________________

Dads_dinner This is Yummy and me.

We’ve just gotten our food and we’re about to start.

It’s good to eat at restaurants like these once in a while.. Really pamper yourself.

Friendster sucks it won’t let me upload more pictures due to lack of disk space.. wTF is this?? NO more blogging??? I deleted my old posts and It still won’t let me upload new pictures.  GRRR.. Ok I’m moving to blogger..  Fortunately I created an account there.

Guys, please view my blog at this url.

http://martinaquino.wordpress.com/

I’ll continue from there.. It’s a shame that I have to abandon my friendster blog due to lack of space.  But can one put a price on memories??

Today is my Birthday

February 5th, 2007 by martinaquino

Today is my birthday. Yes, I know the post says Febuary five but it’s actually Febuary six here in the Philippines.  I didn’t do anything "special" yet except go to a place where nice people usually don’t go. Hey, I needed to treat myself eh? I’m twenty five. Not exactly a kid anymore. ________________________________________________________________

Guildwarzzz_2Anyway Quick update.  After coming back from that "place" I played some Guildwars and finally beat the game.  Killed the lich and all.

Oh, this guy is my character Hagaren Renkinjutsu wearing a droknar’s forge executioner’s helm (+1 Axe mastery).

Jeez I suck. I can’t help feeling sorry for myself on my 25th birthday.

I was planning to go to Dad’s restaurant by myself today to treat myself to an eat all you can buffet.  I dunno. I want my birthday to feel special but I’m feeling so un-special!  (and filthy too.)

Made mac and cheese!

February 1st, 2007 by martinaquino

I made mac and cheese!  I researched recipes on recipezaar and I found an easy one.  I was so eager to try it that I went out and bought the ingredients.  The cheese was cheddar-mozzarella which I think was a good deal because it was two cheeses in one.  It was quite pricy though.

Macandcheese_1  I nuked the cheese with some milk, butter and flour in the microwave.

When the cheese melted, I stirred it up and poured it over the macaroni.

I added some onion powder, black pepper and salt.  Delicious!!  The cheese was kinda different-tasting though.  Next time I think I need to find a different tasting cheese.   All in all, not bad for a first batch of mac and cheese.  My first batches tend to come out WEIRD in some way or another.  Next time I’ll make an even better batch.

Chinese New Year and Movie Marathon

February 1st, 2007 by martinaquino

Two days ago I had a craving for a Wendy’s chicken breast sandwich.  Luckily for me class let out early for lunch so off I went to SM.  I had my sandwich and since I had 2 hours to kill I decided to go walk around SM department store for a bit.

_________________________________________________________________

The department store was busy preparing for the Chinese New Year and they had fortune cookies and all sorts of new year things.

Gourd_1 I got this cool gourd thingy.  It looks pretty neat.  I hung it outside my door.  It’s supposed to bring wealth and good luck.

For my friends I got two boxes of strawberry flavoured fortune cookies.

Of course I had one to see what my fortune was.  It was "Romance is in the air".  What a crock.. I had another fortune cookie because the first fortune sucked.

My friends loved their cookies.  I think it’s a pretty fun thing to pass out fortune cookies and seeing what fortune everyone gets.  It’s also nice to pass out good luck to friends.

That afternoon I decided to watch APOCALYPTO at robinsons.

Apocalypto Apocalypto was pretty okay.  It was a bit gory.  I think it’s pretty accurate about the Mayan peoples way of life, with the sun worship and human sacrifices and all.

Basically the movie is just like another of those adventure movies I’ve seen.. or in my case, one of the books I’ve read but a bit more bloodier.  Don’t get me wrong, Apocalypto is a VERY GOOD movie but compared to BABEL, BABEL is much better story wise. Yeah, Apocalypto IS VERY GORY but BABEL’S gore actually made wince, squirm and me feel nauseous. Which is good.

I could see Apocalypto’s ending a mile away.. especially after the eclipse and the Beach scene.  Whoops.. Did I say too much?  Well, If you know your history and If you’ve got your brain working I’ve probably spoiled the movie for you.

Hahaha.

_______________________________________________________________

After watching APOCALYPTO, It was still a bit early so I went and watched NIGHT at the museum.

Museum11 Night at the museum is a kids movie.  It’s about museum exhibits that come to life at night.

I kinda enjoyed the movie but it reminded me of THE INDIAN IN THE CUPBOARD (movie and books.) especially since it featured Owen Wilson as a miniature trigger happy cowboy.  (Remember Boo-hoo Boone anyone? No?)

I laughed like crazy when the cowboy said a Brokeback mountain reference in the movie.  The people sitting next to me didn’t get it.

I didn’t like Ben stiller’s character.  He came off as being sarcastic and rude.  And his kid was looking so… bored.  I love museums and If the exhibits came alive I’d be like.. WHOAAA COOL!!

Tuesday’s my birthday. The question I am asking myself now is…

AM I COOKING ON MY BIRTHDAY??  Probably… I would like a carton of velveeta cheese for my birthday.  Hopefully WalterMart stocks it.  I want to make some Mac and Cheese.  I’ve been researching recipes on the net and so far I found one that looks promising.  I can’t bake so finding a No-bake mac and cheese recipe is tricky.

An outing with some bowling.

January 26th, 2007 by martinaquino

Finally after a week of hectic scheduling, I finally got to go out to see a movie with the guys.  I was looking forward to a relaxing movie (Night at the museum) but I was horrified to discover when the opening credits rolled that we were actually watching Babel.

________________________________________________________________

Cate_blanchett4 Babel was a good movie but it wasn’t what I wanted.  It was a movie that showed you lots of stuff and made you think.

It wasn’t RELAXING AT all.

In fact, at one point in the movie, I felt a fainting episode coming on because of the blood.  I just hate the sight of people bleeding to death.

BTW, yes,  I have fainted before and I knew if I watched any more of the bleeding I would have collapsed.  I went to the toilet and looked in the mirror.  I was pale as a ghost.  But I would have loved watching this movie if I wasn’t so stressed out.

I’m feeling very un-relaxed right now and tomorrow I have to go and study for my exams again!  Noooo!!!  I wanted to relax but this movie got me so worked up!!

_______________________________________________________________

Bowlingme After the movie we went bowling.

Nakhai was very nice and showed us the ropes and techniques of bowling (and paid for everything.)

I kinda liked it except for the part where they made us wear dumb bowling shoes.  Ewww .. Want a bad case of athlete’s foot anyone?  I thought the shoes made my feet look like Ronald Mc Donald’s.

______________________________________________________________

Dsc04449 This is me bowling! It’s very tricky because there’s lots of factors to take into consideration..  Stuff like spin, grip, ball weight and aiming are very important.

I learned that heavy balls are really powerful and easy to control but hard to throw!

Light balls are easily thrown but have poor control and they tend to spin a lot.

So… I played bowling.

_______________________________________________________________

Scoresheetmed This was the score sheet! Not Bad eh?

We played for two games and I was so tired (and stressed) from the movie that I just threw the balls any old way.

_______________________________________________________________

Bowling1 Everyone had a great time!

I had a great time too at least until the second game of bowling!

I must admit, It was a fun outing but I would have preferred a less stressful movie after a long hard week. Thanks very much Nakhai, Yummy, Emil and David.  Sorry if I’m being a grouch.

_______________________________________________________________

Hagaren I recently started playing GuildWars again.  The new expansion is really nice to play with all the new heroes and all.  I’m a little tired of DOTA.

As of now I’m leveling up my hero army so I can beat the game.

Next month is my Birthday.  Weee.. I’ll be twenty five. Dammit.  five more years till I’m thirty.

Today I cooked pasta.

January 20th, 2007 by martinaquino

Step8_1 Nothing interesting today.  I just made a pot of pasta with Clara Ole’s Onion and Garlic Spag sauce.

Reunion with an old friend

January 15th, 2007 by martinaquino

A few days ago, i was looking through the friends of my friend Aljay on friendster when suddenly, I came across the name of an old and a very special friend to me.. Tears came into my eyes..  I thought I had lost her forever.  I viewed her profile and I was lost for words as I saw her pictures.  She was exactly as I remembered her!! I started crying a little.. I had been looking for her for 18 years and I had given up hope of ever finding her again.  I wrote this letter to her…

Today, I went with Emil to Lotus Mall.  I know I’ve been raving about stuff I bought from the mall, but I never really talked about it or posted pics.  This post is for you guys!

________________________________________________________________

Dsc04316This is Lotus Mall! It’s in Imus Cavite and it’s an anime addict’s haven!

They sell all sorts of anime including hard to find anime and the freshest hottest anime downloaded off the net and converted to DVD.

_______________________________________________________________

Dsc04320 This is a very blurry picture of me and Emil. This was taken by the saleslady.

Emil was looking for snuff videos.  I rolled my eyes and told him that they don’t sell that kind of stuff!!

_______________________________________________________________

Dsc04322 This is me, holding up a porn dvd.  There’s 8 videos inside!

I’m proud to announce that I don’t like porno that much anymore. It was fun in highschool but once you’re older (and getting some…action.) it’s like, kid stuff.

_______________________________________________________________

Girls1 This is a store display filled with VERY Cheap anime figurines.  These are very cute and inexpensive, 100 pesos for 1 figurine.

I want to buy the set of girls! Maybe next week when I have money.

_______________________________________________________________

Inuyasha_6 I couldn’t resist such a bargain!  I bought half of the inuyasha figurine set.

Wow, this is really cool. Click on the pic to see the figurines in a larger window.

_______________________________________________________________

Shippo This is my favorite Piece in the Inuyasha set.

It shows Shippo, fast asleep on his father’s pelt.  Shippo is detachable which is VERY cute.

_______________________________________________________________

Emil bought Final Fantasy (series), Zoids and at my prodding, Gantz the anime.  I bought Densha otoko because I forgot to take back my Densha Otoko from Joe before I left for Manila.

Well, that’s all for now, Take care you guys!!

I saw Erik Morales!

January 10th, 2007 by martinaquino

I was at Alabang Town Center to relax after my lab pracs. I was munching my breadtalk floss when all of a sudden I noticed a lot of people standing outside the Lacoste shop (The one in front of Powerbooks).

I went to take a look. I thought that there was a fire or something.  I asked a guard what was going on.  He told me that Erik Morales, the mexican boxer was shopping in Lacoste.

______________________________________________________________

Morales_1 I’m not a fan of boxing. All I know is that Manny Pacquiao beat him.  I caught a glimpse of Erik Morales in the Lacoste shop and then I left. I felt sorry for him, the way some people kept hounding him. All I can say is that.. he’s pretty good looking and he’s got VERY shaggy eyebrows.  A pretty boy.

______________________________________________________________

Avatar_1 I’m currently addicted to Avatar: The Last airbender.  It’s a Nickelodeon cartoon and it’s Kinda like Naruto. It’s very well animated and the story is a bit serious but it has light hearted moments and battle scenes that make you want to come back for more.  It’s a bit kiddie at times but it’s still good stuff.  There’s like 2 seasons out and a third season is coming out this year. I’ve got season one and It’s great. Aang, the bald kid, can fly and control air, while Katara, the girl, can control water.  Sokka, the other kid, is the comic relief of the show.  He doesn’t have any special powers and he complains a lot. That makes him fun to watch.

80’s fun!

January 6th, 2007 by martinaquino

Khash gave me my christmas present today! The complete Thundercats on 12 dvds!  Thank you so much!  I watched one DVD and I really had fun.  I remember that as a kid, the Thundercats show was one of my favorites on television.
Thundercats
My favorite Thundercats were Lion-o, Cheetara, Wilykit and Wilykat

Lion-o was the leader and he had the cool sword of omens.  Cheetara could run really fast and Wilykit and Wilykat were small, nimble and they threw tiny pellets that had gas, powders or glue in them.  Of course, the thundercats had a cool catchphrase. Lion-o would shout: "THUNDER THUNDER THUNDERCATS!  HO!!!!"  and the sword of omens would lengthen and a beacon with the thundercat logo  would shoot out like the batsignal.  Good stuff.
________________________________________________________________________
It turns out that I had bought the final season of the new he-man.  It’s okay.  They introduced new characters and a new enemy the snakemen.  These guys are even more powerful than Skeletor’s goons.

Cartoon08
I also found out what Skeletor looked like before turning into a skeleton-like figure.

He was a blue skinned, long haired villain named Keldor.  He assembled his forces and wreaked havok on Eternia, the world of He-man.  That’s him on the right fighting with with He-man’s father.

________________________________________________________________________

Cartoon10_1  Anyway,  Keldor was dying so with the help of Evil-Lyn (the babe to the left) he asked Hordak, to save his life.  Hordak extended Keldor’s life but Keldor became the walking skull-faced creature known as Skeletor.

My Favorite character in the New He-man would have to be Evil-Lyn.  She’s a mean spell caster and she’s kinda cute too.  I THINK I remember liking Orko,Stratos, Teela and Cringer when I was a kid.  I recently watched a rerun of the old 80’s He-man show.  I couldn’t stand it!  He-man was a dumb jock who just ran around waving his sword without USING IT.  Sheesh, all the sword’s good for is transforming him anyway.
________________________________________________________________________

I found out that the Transformers I got wasn’t the first or even the second season but the THIRD.  Geez.  Khash got me transformers too so now I have two DVDS of the third season.  Anybody want it?   Just post a comment here or e-mail me or something.  I really want the first season.  Next week maybe I’ll go try shopping for the Visionaries.
